Time flies!

I thought I will have more time to post more often, but I was wrong!
Time flies really quickly! I am taking care of Arthur on Monday and Friday all day, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday he goes to the childminder for 6 hours which are these hours which go the quickest. I am taking the time on my own to prepare the baby's arrival, to do everything I can't do when Arthur is around and all the things I would like to do before the baby comes and takes even more of my time!
So, May is already gone and June has well started!
In the event which took place the past month:
- we enjoyed a really hot week end mid-may to go to the paddling pool and see some beautiful old cars. That same day, we had the pleasure to make one of our first BBQ with some new friends from Wallingford, Will (the Australian father), Belinda (the English mother), Lizzie (2 and half years old) and James (14 months)
- our friends, JB and Mimi, came to spend two days and one night at home with their children before to go back to Strasbourg.
- we went to do a 36 weeks scan to make sure that the placenta is not in front of the exit any more, which is the case, so I can have a natural birth is everything goes fine.
- Marc run 10K in Oxford, we were really pride of him, at least me ;)
- Arthur and I went to the hairdresser. For me, she straightened my hair so I have two versions of my new do!

or

- we went to my Italian teacher's son's first birthday party and for once Arthur was pretty shy and wanted to play with the other children when we were leaving, typical!
- and at last, last week end, my cousin Sandrine came to visit with her children really quickly. It was short, but sweet!

Apart from that, Arthur is well, but he is going through a really hard opposition stage. It's not easy everyday. Me, I'm growing slowly everyday. We are in waiting process! My mum is coming in a week time and I have the feeling I will have even less time to post, but I am pretty sure Marc will do it to let you know about the great news!!!

I’m back!

So after 10 days with Marc’s parents, Sabrina, his second little sister came to look after Arthur. Since the end of June, she lives at 40 minutes away from us as an au-paire, which is very useful for us. Fiona, the childminder being on holiday from the 1st of August to the 17th of August, it was necessary to find somebody to look after him.

Jerome came in Egland!

I explain the exclamation mark: my brother, Jerome, always said that he won't come to see me because I live in England.

Life with daddy

A quick summary of the Week End and today.

Arthur cough often during the day, it's seems that he has a running nose, which only run inside his throat :( So sometime he spend 2/3 minutes coughing. Sometime a bit of water hep. I also put a bit of liquid in his nostrils to help, but it's such a fight that I don't do it a lot. In France they use a small pump to clean the nose but I'm sure it be impossible with our specimen. We are already fighting him when we change nappy...

Merry Christmas !!

Here things are very well, my sister Sabrina and her boyfriend Alexandre arrived well, Saturday instead of Friday due to a very thick fog.

Yesterday we went to the swimming pool with Arthur, he enjoyed swimming and playing with toys. Marie stayed at home to clean it.
Back home we cooked dinner, Sabrina the dessert, Alex and I the Christmas turkey and vegetables, following a Jamie Oliver recipe.

Around 18:30 we had a drink in the living room and watched helped Arthur to open his 11 presents !! To all of you : Thank you very much !!
After Arthur went to bed and we started our Christmas dinner, "Foie Gras" on toasted bread, I had butter. Then the turkey with the vegetables, it was full of flavour, very very good !
We started playing a game that was in one of the cracker and laughed a lot. At the same time we had chocolate cake with ice Cream.

While waiting midnight we watched "The Russians Dolls", in french "Les poupées Russes", it's the sequel of "Pot Luck", in french "L'auberge espagnol", both very good movies.

At one o'clock we opened our presents. We were all very impressed by Marie's mother present to Marie, a photo album telling Marie's story since she was born, Alexandre even had a car, a 407 coupé.

WeekEnd summary

Friday
Afternoon we went food shopping so we could breath some fresh air. We bought, for Arthur two jars: carrots & sweetcorn and apple & banana, for us: breaded sole fish (for homemade Fish&Chips), mince burgers and a pork shoulder joint (to cook with lentils).
Back home Arthur had his bath, now that he can sit, things are different I can put more toys around him but that's useless he only want to play with the bath sink and the cord :)
Then drying, pyjama, bottle-feed, kiss-kiss, night-night.
We stayed up until 2:30am watching TV shows with Suzanne, Bree, Hiro, the Petrelli's brothers, Mia, Isabel, ... at the end Marie was worried to mix up stories and characters :)

Saturday
I got up late (how come?!) took care of Arthur : nappie-change, breakfast, playing. Around eleven we continued the solid food training, I put him on my lap and gave him a spoon or two of Carrots & sweetcorn, he enjoyed it so much that it ended as a halloween make up :)
At the end 60gr of food in baby tummie and 20gr spread on his face, his white body (changed 30min ago), my arms and my pyjama. It was for sure a SUCCESS !! Thomas Sechet was right, parents need to be patient, no need to worry just keep trying.
After came the cleaning and believe me carrots puree is difficult to remove from baby nostrils !!

We then got ready for the halloween party with Arthur and Marie's Aquanatal friends, it was nice to meet mummies and babies I have heard off for the past 8months and to talk with the men ;)
After the party we went to Currys to look for a new washing machine, they all look the same and the hot/cold fill one are not easy to find. We even read that cold fill is better for the environment, which I don't understand because cold fill mean using more energy to warm up the water, anybody can tell me what is right, thanks ?
Back home, Arthur had his bath with Marie while I was cooking our Fish&Chips. We put Arthur to bed, had our dinner and I went straight to bed exhausted by the week I had.

Sunday
I got up around 7:00 with Arthur, no nobody told him about the time change !! I took care of Arthur, gave him some apple & banana puree, this time I sat him on the table and it was much easier. This time I put him a bib and he helped me by removing his thumb before putting the spoon in his mouth. Arthur and I had a webcam/chat with our french friends, the connection was so good that we woke up Marie, she thought that our friend was in the house :)
I then left for a terrific squash game, came back to catch up with our us-uk-ozie friend.

Lunchtime, we had the excellent mince steak with a salad and Arthur had a quater of an apple. I setup Arthur's wooden high chair, sat him in and we looked at him very happy in his throne. I did a quick grass cut before going to the swimming pool (at 4, impossible to do that in France). Straight from the swimming pool entrance Arthur was very excited, I was impressed as it was the second time at this swimming pool. We had a nice swim and Arthur now splash while moving his legs when "swimming" on his front. Next time Marie will stay aside so she can take picture of us, if it's allowed.
Back home, no bath, pyjama, feed, kiss-kiss, night-night, end of the weekend.

Thanks to have read until here, hope you enjoyed it as much as we did :)
