Christmas.

This year, for different reason, we stayed at home to celebrate Christmas. We invited a friend of Marc, Pierre who lives in London. He came with a lot of food: some oysters which I liked for the first time in my life, 6 bottles of wine, 1kg of Gambas that we ate on Christmas Eve, three Lobsters that we ate on the 25 in the evening and 2 duck breasts that we ate on the 26. Adding to that, I prepared a pork join stuffed with prunes and dry apricots for the 25th at lunch time.

Outside the table, the children celebrated Christmas on English way. On Christmas Eve, they went to bed in an appropriate time. Before going to bed, they spread the Reindeer food that they made at nursery in the garden. Arthur help me to prepare a plate of Christmas biscuits and a glass of juice for Father Christmas and we song a French Christmas Carols before sleeping.

The next day, they found a lot of present under the Christmas tree.

They got spoiled: a lot of chocolate and sweet, Arthur got a lot of toys related to Lighting MacQueen, the hero of Cars movie and Rémi got in summary Thomas the tank Engine and his friends toys and some Lego.

We spent a great Christmas, even if we missed a lot our family and friends from Strasbourg.

Father Christmas in the train.

The weekend before Christmas, we took the steam train for Cholsey with Nic, Lisa, Elliot and Jorja to meet Father Christmas.
On the way in, we tried to spot all the snowman on the rail, then when we arrived at Cholsey we went to the park. The weather was with us: the ground was covered of snow and black ice, but it was sunny.

Back in the train, we went to meet Father Christmas. Rémi was terrified again, but Arthur agreed to take a picture with him. Rémi got a book and a rewind duck for the bus. Arthur got a domino game, two cards game and a pen.

After our journey, we, all, went back home to get a hot drink to warm us up from this long and adventurous trip.

Nursery Christmas party.

Christmas started really early for us. Beginning of December, the nursery organised a craft day to create some Christmas decoration. Rémi was really pleased by the idea, but Arthur preferred to play hide and seek with his friends outside.
We came back home with food for the Father Christmas Reindeer to put in the garden on Christmas Eve for them to find our house, a decorated pine, a decorated CD and a star for the Christmas Tree.
Rémi even came back with his first face painted.

Then, there was the children Christmas party individually. I managed to go to both of them.
Rémi’s one was a disappointing. It consisted for the parents to stare at each other while the children were playing, then a snack and at last Father Christmas visit. Rémi got terrified by him and didn’t want to go to pick up his present. He got a lovely book with animals which make noises.

Arthur’s one was more interesting as the children made a little show with some songs. Unfortunately Arthur spotted me in the room straight away and preferred to suck his thumb all along. His teacher was really disappointed because the same morning during rehearsal he sang well, but I knew he will react like that. In any way, it’s been few weeks he kept singing all the songs at home.
Then there was a snack and Father Christmas visit. He got two submarines which are still really popular in the bath.

French fries

If you know the story about the deep fat fryer, you will understand my joy when I got my Christmas present from Marc.

Marie pomme de terre

I didn't understand everything at the beginning. Thanks to Kathia, I understood I will get a deep fat fryer. And few months later, here we go:

I am thinking about it now, because we ate some French fries yesterday! For the ones who don't know the story, let's say that it was one of the best present that Marc could have offered me!!

The one where Christmas took place in Strasbourg

A the beginning, like the year Arthur is born, we wanted to spend Christmas at home. But at the last minute, we thought it will be better for the children to spend some time with their cousins.
We did well.
Arthur enjoyed Mazarine.

Rémi enjoyed his great-grand-ma.

And after a walk in Strasbourg, we found a little elf.

We had, obviously, a great time with our family. The children were spoiled. We managed to see quite a few friends, but as last year, the bugs visited us. It started with Arthur, then me, the same day but in the evening, three days later, Marc and when we came back home, Rémi. Fantastic.
The change, this year, is that we came back home before new year, not a such good idea, we didn't do anything. And Marc fell asleep in front of the TV.
Myself, at midnight, I was changing Rémi's full of s..... nappy. No comment.

The one where Fiona baby-sit the children

Because, we were going to celebate Christmas with Christelle and Richard, our official baby-sitters, we had to ask someone else to be able to go out.
Who's better than Fiona, Arthur's former childminder? And when Fiona comes, she comes with her daughters. It's party time for the boys! And by leaving them with her, I knew I shouldn't worry.
Because at that time Rémi was still breastfed, I prepared a bottle in case he asks for it, knowing he never had one before. With Fiona, it's not a problem. And the next day as well with daddy.

The return of the Carlucci

Happy New Year to all of you:

As you can see from this picture, a forth person has been added to our family. For now, it is in my belly, but in June it will be wild alive.

Everything started, one day in June 2007, when Marc asked me a strange question:

Translation: “when are we making a little sister or little brother? I don't know, when I saw him, I wanted to.” So, without hesitation, before he changed his mind, we started in this new project and two months later, here we go:

I am all right, the baby too. Since Christmas, I can feel it moving, but unfortunately not Marc yet.
Arthur doesn't understand what is going on, he is kissing my belly as his daddy showed him and he found out on his own how to blow raspberry on it.
The first 3 months have been pretty difficult, I was really tired and nauseous 24h a day, 7 days a week for 3 months. Nothing to compare with Arthur's pregnancy. So I already imagine few of you who might say that it is a girl, but I know a lot of women who had different pregnancy for babies of the same sex. So it doesn't mean anything. Anyway, we want to keep the sex of the baby a surprise until the birth!
Here we go, done with that news

Now, in my 2008 new resolution list, I decided to write more post on this blog. We have been pretty quiet for the past few months, nevertheless we were quite busy:
- Arthur grow up:
Arthur in September
Arthur in October
Arthur in November
Arthur in December
During his Christmas holidays, his language skill improved a lot in French. It is still baby talk, but he can make himself understand better and better. He asks for drinks, he calls Réglisse "Eglisse", Winnie the pooh "ouioui" and Noddy too (it is called Oui-Oui in French)!! He loves a French cartoon called Little Brown Bear, tractors, aeroplanes, everything with an engine which makes noise. Obviously, he has his own character and it is not easy every day. Is there one thing he took from his mother, it is his stubbornness!
He loves cooking with Daddy and play with his new pens.
- We celebrated  Halloween, Bomb Fire, and Christmas with our Post Natal group.
- We went to visit my Italian teacher's baby, had a pub walk with the Miskin Family, at dinner at Christelle's house and for me I went to celebrate Christmas with my work.
- Arthur spent a week, in November, alone in Strasbourg, three days with Papie et Mamie (Marc's parents) and three days with Grand-Pierre et Maminouche (my parents). I dropped him and Marc picked him up. That way, Marc managed to start sanding our stairs (as Arthur is asthmatic, it is better to make a lot of dust while he is away).
- And of course we went to celebrate Christmas in Strasbourg.
Even with some car problems (which cost us a fortune) and sickness for Arthur and I, we had a good time.
Since we came back, we celebrated twice Epiphany (which in France, consists on eating an almond pie) and I can say that Arthur loves the pie (pictures to come).

In my new resolution list, I will try to put more up-to-date video of Arthur on the website, but that will depend on our montage software which makes me crazy.
Here we go for the first post of 2008, not bad. I think I didn't forget anything. You are up-to-date now.

Arthur's first Christmas

Merry Christmas to all of you!
Arthur had a lot of present despite the fact we were staying in Wallingford this year. He received:

Thank you to all of you, he loved the wraping paper :)

Also he had his 8 months check up last Wednesday, he weight 9,340 kg (20 lb 9 oz) , he has 4 teeth coming through at the same time (the 4 at the top), his bottom and his cheecks are red, but he is smiling all the time!!!

At last, and it's not related to Arthur or Christmas, while I was in France for my grand-mother's funeral, one of my really nice cousin cut my hair and last Thursday I did some cupper and golden-brown high light, but it can't be seen properly on the pictures ;)

Merry Christmas !!

Here things are very well, my sister Sabrina and her boyfriend Alexandre arrived well, Saturday instead of Friday due to a very thick fog.

Yesterday we went to the swimming pool with Arthur, he enjoyed swimming and playing with toys. Marie stayed at home to clean it.
Back home we cooked dinner, Sabrina the dessert, Alex and I the Christmas turkey and vegetables, following a Jamie Oliver recipe.

Around 18:30 we had a drink in the living room and watched helped Arthur to open his 11 presents !! To all of you : Thank you very much !!
After Arthur went to bed and we started our Christmas dinner, "Foie Gras" on toasted bread, I had butter. Then the turkey with the vegetables, it was full of flavour, very very good !
We started playing a game that was in one of the cracker and laughed a lot. At the same time we had chocolate cake with ice Cream.

While waiting midnight we watched "The Russians Dolls", in french "Les poupées Russes", it's the sequel of "Pot Luck", in french "L'auberge espagnol", both very good movies.

At one o'clock we opened our presents. We were all very impressed by Marie's mother present to Marie, a photo album telling Marie's story since she was born, Alexandre even had a car, a 407 coupé.
