Time flies!

I thought I will have more time to post more often, but I was wrong!
Time flies really quickly! I am taking care of Arthur on Monday and Friday all day, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday he goes to the childminder for 6 hours which are these hours which go the quickest. I am taking the time on my own to prepare the baby's arrival, to do everything I can't do when Arthur is around and all the things I would like to do before the baby comes and takes even more of my time!
So, May is already gone and June has well started!
In the event which took place the past month:
- we enjoyed a really hot week end mid-may to go to the paddling pool and see some beautiful old cars. That same day, we had the pleasure to make one of our first BBQ with some new friends from Wallingford, Will (the Australian father), Belinda (the English mother), Lizzie (2 and half years old) and James (14 months)
- our friends, JB and Mimi, came to spend two days and one night at home with their children before to go back to Strasbourg.
- we went to do a 36 weeks scan to make sure that the placenta is not in front of the exit any more, which is the case, so I can have a natural birth is everything goes fine.
- Marc run 10K in Oxford, we were really pride of him, at least me ;)
- Arthur and I went to the hairdresser. For me, she straightened my hair so I have two versions of my new do!

or

- we went to my Italian teacher's son's first birthday party and for once Arthur was pretty shy and wanted to play with the other children when we were leaving, typical!
- and at last, last week end, my cousin Sandrine came to visit with her children really quickly. It was short, but sweet!

Apart from that, Arthur is well, but he is going through a really hard opposition stage. It's not easy everyday. Me, I'm growing slowly everyday. We are in waiting process! My mum is coming in a week time and I have the feeling I will have even less time to post, but I am pretty sure Marc will do it to let you know about the great news!!!

Visits, birthdays, warm weather and change of childminder

Here we go again, one month spent in the speed of light.
The last news that we gave where just after Arthur's second birthday party. So many things happened since, that's why we were so quiet on the blog front!
From the 8th of April, we hosted Rosa (Marc's mum), Le nonne (Marc's grand-father) and Luc (Kathia's son, Marc's sister) for 11 days, but not long ago after there arrival (the 9th!), Dutschke family arrived for a week!
So to summarize, we were 6 adults and 3 children in the house for a week.
Melanie and David rented a car, so they spent the week traveling around the English countryside with or without us. Our evening were spent by play cards game or « Let's buy Hollywood », to eat some chocolate and to laugh around a cup of herbal tea.
The children liked each other more or less. Arthur was getting on Luc's nerve, scared Samuel in the bath, but he has being really friendly and let them play with his toys most of the time.
When all these people left, my sister Nathalie arrived on her own for 3 days. It was great, we discovered back each other. We see each other twice in the year and all the time with all the rest of the family, so in a difficult situation to talk about everyday things. She introduced to us a English girl who spent three months in her house, Sophie. It's the proof that the world is small, Sophie and her family leave half an hour away from us. We spent a lovely evening at her parents' house.

Adding to all the visits, we celebrated some birthday. Yes, all Arthur's friends turn 2, now. The 12th of April, a week ahead, we went to Elliot's party, the next day to Ben's (but we don't have any picture as we just poped in) and finally, last week end, Luke's party.

We also enjoyed the warm weather which chase the snow:
- we went to have a walk at Millet Farm with a colleague of mine, James and his family.
- We went to the park to play with bubbles.

In all the cheerful events, however we had a bad news. Fiona, the childminder, decided to quit to work in a nursery. It was a chock, but we found a couple which are both childminders. They are Fiona's friends, so Arthur knows them well, there names are Natalie and Robbie. His first week with them just passed and apart from a lake of sleep, he is really happy with them, he doesn't want to go home in the evening. He loves Robbie.

Now, in the everyday life news.
Arthur speaks more and more Italian, he repeats everything we say, does everything we do and we have to be really careful to not set the wrong example.
He is in his opposition phase and it's not easy every day.
He had his first dentist appointment to get use to him and of course didn't want to open his mouth i front of him, but it was his first contact. He started a homeopathic treatment for his asthma and he doesn't cough for a month now. He also stopped to drink cow milk and drinks goat milk instead which seems to make it work too.
He talks a lot about wee-wee and poo, but he is not interested by potty training at all.

Marc went to Malta for 4 days, but he will tell the story himself. He came back tanned.
He still has a lot of work.
He also started a homeopathic treatment for his sinus and he is blowing his nose less and less.

About me, I am on maternity leave at the end of next week. We will have a scan next Friday to see if the placenta is not in front of the exit anymore and will allow me to have a natural birth. Baby is moving still a lot.
I am suffering of swollen ankles and feet because of the pregnancy and the heat, but I can have a foot massage almost every evening so I am not complaining ;)

Here we go, I tried to go to the essential. Soon, for sure, I will have more time to write more.

Second birthday party!

First of all, the day of his birthday, Arthur woke up sick. He was in bad mood and he didn't want us to sing "happy birthday", but when he went down stairs to have his breakfast, he discovered in the conservatory his present from his parents: a garage with cars.
He was really happy, and we had to have breakfast near it, and changing his nappy and get dressed in the conservatort!.
Fortunately, he didn't mind leaving to Fiona's.
Fiona gave him a board with soft paper where there is a lot of different little piece to change the background. The theme is the train station with a nice train.
In the evening, when we came back, Christelle and Richard were waiting for us with a big packet. They offered him a bear made by themselves in the bear factory. His name is Barney, but Arthur being really traditional calls him Teddy.
They stayed for diner, Marc made some home made lasagna. We spent more time on the phone than with our guests, but thank you everyone to have called for Arthur who wasn't in good mood to talk on the phone except for his godfather Paul.
The next day, he received a parcel from Maryse, Aurelie's mum, a really nice book in French "Arthur, tidy your room". The drawings and the text are really nice.
Saturday, yesterday, we celebrated his birthday with others friends. Yes, 2 years old, 2 birthday parties!!!! There were Grace and Olivia who are his friends from Fiona's, Sophie and Isabelle and Elliot. For the adults, there were the parents and Christelle and Richard.
He got a lot of present: some puzzle of Thomas, the tank engine and Nemo from Olivia, a book from Grace (Monkey and me), a book and some Winnie the pooh chocolate from Elliot, some letter-magnet from Sophie and Isabel
Arthur blow again really well his candles, but this time Marc missed the video, so no proof. What was funny is that he managed to blow one candle and took it to light it up again with the other one. He did that two or three time, until I helped him to blow the two candles at the same time.
Today, we woke up with 10 centimetre of snow. Arthur received an other present from the neighbour: a book "Old MacDonald had a farm", I had to sing it twice!!
In the other news, Arthur being sick all week, he started to suck his thumb again. Good or not good, I don't know, but he needs it obviously. He is really grumpy and has tantrums these days, so I hope it will help him to calm down.
To finish with birthday and anniversaries, Marc and I went to a gastro-pub for our wedding anniversary on Thursday. It was delicious.

First birthday party!!

Yesterday, we celebrated Arthur's birthday with our post natal group. Two of the children were missing, Jacob and Eva, but we were still 6 children and 8 adults.
Arthur had difficulties to blow his candles, but he was happy. He has been spoiled. He got a puzzle with vehicles, a truck which caries a digger, a book about a Kangourou and some painting pen.
Here are some pictures and a video:

Visits, visits and still a lot of visits.

After coming back from our holidays on Monday the 16th of July, the next day in the evening Rosa and Donato, Marc’s parents arrived to spend 10 days with us. We didn’t put Arthur at Fiona’s so they could enjoy him fully. It was worth it.

Long leave, so long post: our holidays

Almost two months of absence and so many thing to say. We went on holiday, we had visitors and during this time, our little Arthur progresses every day a little bit more and we have some stories to tell as much for him as for us.

So I start with our holidays.

Easter and week which follows

Our Easter week end passed relatively well, but it was a week end like another.
Friday, Marc didn't work (that it is not usual). After Arthur's nap, we went to the park. Arthur played well as usual. He loves the swing, but he has an attraction for the swivel (not his parents!!) Marc and Arthur played on the grass, it was beautiful to see.
Something odd happened that day. As there was a large sun (yes it can happen in England!), I put my sunglasses. While going to the park, I walked beside Arthur who looked at me intensely. Then we played as I mentioned above. At the end of the day, the sun setting down, I removed my glasses. And there, the expression of Arthur's face said: “but I know that one! “
Because we had to go back home, I took Arthur in my arms. He started to yell as if I were kidnapping him. He wanted to go in Marc's arms! He had a crisis at least 10 minutes! I ignored him, Marc gave him his bath and after that, I was his mum again.
I don't know what happen in his small head, but the sunglasses don't do it to him
Sabrina, Marc's sister, arrived from Paris that evening.
Saturday, Arthur was not well at all. He coughed, his nose ran a lot, he cried most of the day and especially when Sabrina approached him too close. To say how much he was not well, he cried at the park whereas usually when he sees the swings he is very happy!
We decided to stay at home for the rest of the week end, so he could get better.
We spent our last two days to discuss between girls, to play with Arthur and especially Sabrina try to be friend with him. It worked: he launched himself out in her arms to kiss her (videos to come).
Sabrina also decided to cut his hair in front of his eyes, because it was really too long. They were two to do it, he cried, they gave up and now Arthur has a pretty asymmetrical fringe, but apparently it is the fashion and after all it will grow back!
Before: After:
Another innovation of the week end, when I called Marc in the house, Arthur followed me while shouting “MA, MA, MA”, I am not sure he knows he is supposed to say Papa instead!
Sabrina left Tuesday evening, we came back in our routine. Apparently at Fiona's, that day, Arthur said Maman when waking up from his nap and he said “bye, bye” waving at Fiona when leaving! I wasn't there, shame!
Today, we went to the twins Ethan and Emily's birthday, but Ethan had a nap so we didn't see him. Arthur had fun in their garden and he was very buddy with their dad. At one point, their dad (Andy) went inside the house and Arthur said: “Bye, bye, Papa”. I don't think he understood the meaning of Papa yet.
On the way home, he shouted all the time: “Bye, bye” waving to all those which passed by!
When we came back, I tidied our cloth and when I finished, I found Arthur in the basket. Marc succeeds to take only the moment when he went out of it all alone without falling!

Health wise, after a few nights washing his nose, ventoline masks , paracetamol, humidifier, he is much better. Fortunately he had an injection today!
Here we go for Easter post, the next one will come in a while, my brother is here with his family for one week.
In no related matter, we tested the tunic which I brought to Arthur from Egypt, he is adorable with it!

We will soon finish the Arthur's bedroom (it would be time), but here is a preview of the photographs from the decoration.

Birthday week

Last week we started the week with a birthday and we ended it with an other one and between, we celebrated few others!
I explain:

  • Sunday 25th of March: Jacob's birthday from my post-natal group in Wallingford. In reality, his birthday is the 20th, but his parents and himself came back from Australia (his father's family leave there) on the 18th or the 19th and they were all tired and sick!
  • Monday 26th of March: our wedding anniversary (ok, it's not a birthday, but almost ;)). Christelle came to baby-sit Arthur and we went to the Sweet Olive, pub belonging to some French guys, where we ate really well. We will go back!
  • Wednesday 28th of March: Olwen's birthday from my post-natal group in Wallingford who I met the first time in Wallingford hospital because her mother was there when I gave birth. I know her since she is 4 days old! I finished work earlier to go to the party, but I forgot the camera!
  • And finally Sunday 1st of April: the most beautiful boy's birthday!! ARTHUR!! I can't believe it! We invited all our friends from England and suddenly we realised we know a lot of people, but a lot of people with children. We were about 40 adults and 20 children (babies and new-born!) We are crazy, but we pretended to do our house warming at the same time. In any case he had a lot of present, he played with everybody and was quit excited to go to bed. To all of you who came: thank you very much!

Here we go a busy week passed and it's only the beginning.
For Easter, Sabrina, Marc's sister is coming and then it's my brother, Jerome, and all his family! But they are other stories, so other posts!
